John Romero confirmed that Romero Games has a new publisher for an unnannounced shooter project, according to VGC.
A version of that game was previously going to be published by Xbox, but Microsoft canceled the project earlier this year.
John Romero, cofounder of id Software and co-creator of Doom and Quake, has been making games for years with wife Brenda Romero at their studio in Galway, Ireland. They had to lay off a lot of staff as a result of the previous cancellation but John Romero said the company has rehired some of the staff. John Romero received a lifetime achievement award at Gamescom Asia, where he was interviewed by VGC.

This summer, Romero Games had said it lost funding for the project. But now it looks like it has a second life. John Romero said the game is back on in an interview with VGC at Gamescom Asia. He said he couldn’t say any more about the game details, but it has been redesigned as a completely different game to suit a smaller team size.
