The new Harry Potter series has unveiled its first official poster. The artwork features Dominic McLaughlin as the young wizard, with eye-catching magical details.
It gives fans a fresh look at HBO’s upcoming adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books and features the familiar tagline “The Boy Who Lived,” linking the new series to Harry’s original story.
Hogwarts takes center stage in the new Harry Potter TV show poster
The poster shows Hogwarts Castle through the lens of Harry’s glasses. The close-up features McLaughlin as the young wizard, visually linking him to the magical school he is about to discover. The image keeps the focus on Harry rather than showing multiple characters or a wider scene.
Hogwarts remains a central setting in the upcoming adaptation. Much of Harry’s journey unfolds at the school, where he learns magic and builds friendships. The tagline “The Boy Who Lived” refers to Harry surviving Lord Voldemort’s curse as a baby. The attack left him with his lightning-shaped scar and made him famous throughout the wizarding world. However, Harry grows up without knowing the full story behind his fame.
The first season is titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and adapts the first book in Rowling’s series. The story follows Harry as he discovers his magical abilities and begins attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The format allows the series to explore the book’s events across multiple episodes. McLaughlin stars as Harry, with Arabella Stanton playing Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout portraying Ron Weasley. The cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
According to HBO’s announcement, the eight-episode first season is scheduled to premiere on Christmas Day 2026. Episodes will stream on HBO Max starting December 25 in supported markets.
