International law firm Clyde & Co has bolstered its global aviation practice with the appointment of Tannie Kwong as a partner in Hong Kong.
Kwong arrives from Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific, where he spent more than six years. He initially served as senior legal counsel before taking on the role of head of customer support.
A disputes lawyer with close to 20 years of experience, Kwong will advise Clyde & Co’s aviation clients across Asia-Pacific on matters including high-volume passenger claims, regulatory compliance and legal risk management. His work will also address increasingly complex passenger rights and consumer regulation, the review of conditions of carriage and helping clients make greater use of technology and automation.
“Tannie will focus on strengthening our airline relationships and capabilities across Asia, particularly in passenger claims, regulatory compliance and legal risk management. His practical understanding of airline operations will add meaningful value for clients and colleagues as we expand our regional capabilities,” Kevin Sutherland, partner and chair of the global aviation practice group, told Asia Business Law Journal.
“Tannie’s appointment supports our broader aviation strategy, which emphasises sector leadership, integrated regional delivery and selective investment. We intend to advance this strategy by continuing to add partners in key Asia-Pacific jurisdictions and beyond.”
Alongside Kwong, Clyde & Co has also brought in aviation partner Dave Pflieger, who will work across its Atlanta, San Francisco and Washington DC offices.
