What Happened?
A number of stocks jumped in the morning session after retreating yields and dip-buying supported a relief rebound following the previous session’s sharp drawdown.
The bounce follows a pullback across cloud vendors, triggered by fears that aggressive artificial intelligence capital budgets are crowding out traditional software spending. Scrutiny escalated after CNBC reported that Anthropic generated $16.8 billion in third-quarter revenue, fueling concern that enterprise technology wallets are shifting toward foundation model providers at the expense of established business workflows.
Software valuations experience immediate multiple compression when sovereign borrowing benchmarks climb or budget allocations stall. With the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield receding, per CNBC reporting, lower discount rates offered tangible relief to high-multiple subscription models.
The stock market overreacts to news, and big price drops can present good opportunities to buy high-quality stocks.
Among others, the following stocks were impacted:
Zooming In On JFrog (FROG)
JFrog’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 43 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The previous big move we wrote about was 10 days ago when the stock gained 2.4% on the news that technology equities rebounded from a sharp sell-off sparked by concerns over artificial intelligence revenue expansion.
JFrog is up 49.4% since the beginning of the year, but at $89.02 per share, it is still trading 14.4% below its 52-week high of $104.03 from August 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of JFrog’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $2,513.
