  • Taylor Swift changed up the way she wore her wedding stack during the Academy Museum Gala.
  • Inside, she separated her rings, wearing her band on her left ring finger and her engagement ring on her right.
  • It’s the first time Swift has given a glimpse of her wedding band on its own, and jewelers spoke to ELLE about its design.

Taylor Swift had two looks at the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday, giving photographers a fresh view of her wedding stack as she posed on the red carpet in a custom blue Dior gown. But inside, she changed into a navy Ralph Lauren dress to perform—and also switched up how she wore her rings.

For the first time at a public event, she wore the rings separately, keeping her contour wedding band on her left hand and moving her old mine cushion-cut diamond engagement ring to her right.

It’s possible Swift wore her rings differently because she played guitar during her performance. She might’ve worn the band on her left hand so she could easily move her fingers around the frets without any big jewelry getting in the way while changing chords. With her engagement ring on her right hand, she could still strum comfortably.

The new photos from the gala give a close look at the sparklers, and jewelers praised the cohesion in Swift’s wedding stack.

It is “a thoughtfully styled bridal stack, with each ring playing a role in the overall design,” Angie Kennedy, senior VP of merchandising at Zales, tells ELLE. “Worn above Taylor’s engagement ring, the wedding band adds sparkle and character while allowing the center diamond to remain the focal point.”

On the band itself, “the diamonds appear to be round brilliant or old European cut diamonds set in a thin, delicate yellow gold bezel setting,” Kennedy says. “Similar to her engagement ring, the band blends classic and contemporary design elements, with the unique diamond shapes adding individuality, while the setting brings a clean, modern edge. The low-profile design allows the rings to sit comfortably together, creating a cohesive and well-balanced look.”

Ali Galgano, founder of Serpentine Jewels, agrees. “What stands out to me most about Taylor’s wedding band is the proportion—the diamonds in Taylor’s wedding band look like exactly the right size to accent her engagement ring without overpowering it,” she explains. “The round stones introduce softness beneath the elongated cushion, giving the eye a change of shape and scale. Each diamond has its own definition, creating a beautiful rhythm across the finger.”

“The delicate yellow gold bezels add a modern, sculptural touch,” she continues. “Bezel-set wedding bands are increasingly popular alongside prong-set engagement rings because the contrast works so well—the openness of the prongs balances the gold outline around each band diamond. There’s also a practical benefit: the surrounding gold helps keep neighboring diamonds from rubbing against one another. Diamonds can scratch other diamonds, so that protective border is particularly useful when wearing rings together every day.”

Galgano points out the shape of the ring as well. “The band looks as though it may contour around the engagement ring, allowing the two pieces to nestle together,” she says. “But it also has enough character to feel complete worn on its own, which is something I love in a wedding band. The overall pairing feels romantic and collected, as though these are pieces she could have inherited and made her own.”

Swift first wore her wedding stack on a red carpet during the MTV VMAs on September 27. She and Travis Kelce got married on July 3 and haven’t yet released wedding photos.
