Tottenham beat Coventry 3-1 for first Premier League win of the season

Tottenham Hotspur have recorded their first Premier League win of the season after defeating Coventry City 3-1 at home to move off the bottom of the points table.

Tottenham led 1-nil at halftime after James Maddison opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a superb first-time strike into the top corner following good work from Mohammed Kudus.

It was Maddison’s first Premier League start since April 2025 after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Coventry fought back five minutes into the second half when Jack Rudoni found the back of the net to level the scores at 1-all.

However, Tottenham regained the lead in the 58th minute through Omar Marmoush, who scored his first goal for the club since joining on loan from Manchester City in August.

Coventry were unhappy with the goal after Marmoush appeared to catch Milan van Ewijk with an elbow before scoring, but the goal was allowed to stand.

Ben Davies sealed the victory for Tottenham with a low strike from the edge of the penalty area in stoppage time.

Tottenham also welcomed back Dejan Kulusevski, who made his first appearance since suffering a serious knee injury in May 2025.

The victory moves Tottenham from 20th to 16th place on the Premier League points table, ahead of Coventry on goal difference.

This was only Tottenham’s sixth home Premier League victory in their last 37 matches.
