The Maritime Safety Administration of south China’s Guangdong Province and the Marine Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Monday signed work arrangements to push forward cross-boundary individual yacht travel.
That followed smooth implementation of the northbound travel of yachts from Hong Kong and Macao SARs to the nine Chinese mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which allows Hong Kong and Macao yacht owners to travel to the nine cities to handle cross-border procedures more conveniently.
The signed “Work Arrangement for Facilitating the Entry and Exit of Guangdong-registered Yachts into Hong Kong Waters” and the “Work Arrangement for Entry and Exit of Hong Kong Yachts into Guangdong” will enable yacht owners in Guangdong Province to enjoy the same level of convenience, said a spokesman for the Transport and Logistics Bureau of Hong Kong.
The governments of Hong Kong and Guangdong will deepen coordination to ensure a smooth launch of the southbound travel of yachts from Guangdong in October, which will lift the level of water-based connectivity in the Greater Bay Area.
The policy is expected to add impetus to cross-boundary leisure consumption.
