Digital Policy Office convenes special meeting with Internet infrastructure and cybersecurity industry
The Digital Policy Office (DPO) convened a specialmeeting of the Internet Infrastructure Liaison Group today (September 3) to exchange views on cybersecurity protection, information sharing, and co-ordinated response arrangements to ensure robust cybersecurity support for major events. Representatives of the Hong Kong Cybersecurity Professional Association and the Communications Association of Hong Kong participated in the meeting, working together to foster communication and collaboration between the Internet infrastructure and cybersecurity sectors, and to safeguard the security and resilience of Hong Kong’s cyber and digital ecosystems.
The Acting Commissioner for Digital Policy, Mr Daniel Cheung, said at the meeting, “Later this year, Hong Kong will host a series of major events, including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance Ministers’ Meeting, the Election Committee Subsector Ordinary Elections and the 94th INTERPOL General Assembly. To ensure the smooth execution of these relevant activities, the information systems and network services involved must operate securely, reliably, and efficiently. The DPO will work closely with relevant stakeholders, including the Internet infrastructure and cybersecurity sectors, to make full preparations, enhance security monitoring, maintain close communication, and strengthen co-ordination and collaboration, thereby jointly preventing and responding to potential cybersecurity risks.”
In addition, the DPO will host the 2026 China Cybersecurity Week Hong Kong Sub-forum and the Hong Kong Cybersecurity Attack and Defence Drill 2026 in September and October respectively, with a view to further promoting cybersecurity and enhancing Hong Kong’s overall cybersecurity protection and response capabilities.
The DPO will continue to maintain close liaison with the industry and relevant stakeholders through various mechanisms, including the Internet Infrastructure Liaison Group, on the latest cyber threats and corresponding countermeasures. Having regard to the needs of major events, the DPO will also co-ordinate relevant parties in taking preventive and contingency measures to ensure the security and reliability of Hong Kong’s Internet infrastructure and digital government services, thereby supporting the smooth execution of such events and further strengthening Hong Kong’s cybersecurity defence.

SCST congratulates Doo Hoi-kem, Ng Wing-lam, Cheng Ka-hin, Kwok Ho-wa, Kong Tsz-kin, Li Ka-hing, Deng Xin-zhan and Chui Sum-ki on winning medals in Asian Games
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Miss Rosanna Law, today (September 28) extended her congratulations to table tennis athletes Doo Hoi-kem, Ng Wing-lam on winning a bronze medal in Women’s Doubles, and esports athletes Cheng Ka-hin, Kwok Ho-wa, Kong Tsz-kin, Li Ka-hing, Deng Xin-zhan, Chui Sum-ki on winning a bronze medal in MOBA [Honor of Kings] at the 20th Asian Games.
Miss Law said, “Doo Hoi-kem competed despite injury and, together with her partner Ng Wing-lam, faced tremendous challenges. They adjusted their mindset during the match, gave their utmost effort, and performed to their standard, ultimately securing a medal for the Hong Kong, China table tennis team at this year’s Asian Games. Meanwhile, Cheng Ka-hin, Kwok Ho-wa, Kong Tsz-kin, Li Ka-hing, Deng Xin-zhan, Chui Sum-ki demonstrated team spirit in the esports arena, successfully winning a second medal for Hong Kong, China in the esports events. I look forward to the Hong Kong, China delegation continuing to build on this momentum, surpass themselves, and strive for further outstanding results.”
The Hong Kong, China Delegation has so far won thirty-four medals, namely five gold, twelve silver and seventeen bronze, at the Asian Games. The newly added two medals are as follows:
