Starting on Wednesday, Airbnb began donating a portion of revenue from every stay to Airbnb․org to help provide free short-term housing for people displaced by disaster, traveling for medical care or facing other crises. The company invited A-List celebrity guests to celebrate the occasion at the inaugural Airbnb.org Gala, which took place at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. The company launched the nonprofit organization in 2020 to provide free emergency housing to people in times of need. Every Airbnb stay will now help someone in crisis, and the company is estimating that it will donate $500 million to Airbnb.org over the next five years, putting the nonprofit on a path to provide one million nights of free housing worldwide every year.
Hollywood royalty like Charlize Theron, Tracee Ellis Ross, Zoe Saldaña, Matthew McConaughey and more were in attendance, along with music mavens like Kelly Rowland, Charli XCX and Demi Lovato. The stars dressed up in stylish ensembles, with some of the women opting for dapper suits and classic pumps, while others had more fun with their looks, opting for embellished sandals and two-tone heels.
