Roblox disclosed in its earnings report today that more than 80% of its top 100 games (by hours played) used AI to accelerate game creation in October 2026.

The company which operates the world’s biggest game platform also said that, since the second quarter of 2026, time spent in AI tools has tripled among top creators. This means that, despite resistance to AI in some circles of gamers and game devs, Roblox’s developers and its players are highly supportive of AI — or don’t care when it’s being used.

In addition, Roblox said that the daily use of its MCP Server is up nearly five-fold over the same period. The Roblox MCP Server is Roblox’s implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that allows AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor, VS Code AI tools, and other MCP-compatible agents to communicate directly with external applications. In this case, the application is Roblox Studio.

In the earnings statement, David Baszucki, founder and CEO of Roblox, said, “Our Q3 financial results came in ahead of our guidance for revenue, bookings, and cash flow. AI is fundamentally reshaping the gaming industry, driving a step function change in the pace at which content can be created. When anyone can create a game, what matters most is scaled distribution, effective discovery, a robust economy, industry-leading safety, and infrastructure to support it all. Roblox is built on an architecture that combines all of these elements, and AI has accelerated our ambitions. We’re building Roblox into the platform for all gaming, where any game can be created once, run anywhere, on any device at massive scale.ˮ

Roblox’s stock price is currently down 11% in after-hours trading, after the report came out at the market close.

By the end of Q3, a game created almost entirely with AI broke into the top 10 on Roblox by concurrent players.

Build, which is Roblox’s natural-language game creation environment, is live in only a handful of markets. But it will be expanding by end of year. More than 500,000 users have tried it, and they’ve published over 70,000 games. Daily asset uploads have tripled in October 2026.

For more experienced creators, Roblox is now opening MCP access to every major API in Roblox Studio – soon, AI agents will be able to perform any action in Studio that a creator can do manually today.

So what does this mean? This growing AI usage data is evidence that creators of all experience levels are leaning into AI – whether through Build, agentic workflows in Studio, and the Studio MCP server.

Generative game-building tools are appearing across the industry, so the question is no longer whether AI will make creation easier – it’s what happens when anyone can make a game.

The Roblox view is that building may get commoditized, but audience and discovery can’t be. Audience, discovery, monetization, and safety + moderation systems can’t be generated with a few prompts. The company’s systems are built on more than 20 years of play data – this is what helps quality games rise as a tsunami of gaming content arrives.

As for the tripling of daily asset uploads in October, early signs indicate that these are high-quality assets – Roblox is seeing less duplication and more rich, complicated assets than it has historically seen in creation.
