The penalty spot giveth and the penalty spot taketh away.
Chelsea were eliminated from the Carabao Cup on Wednesday by Liverpool at Anfield in a match entirely decided by spot-kicks, as the teams traded goals from the 12-yard marker during the 90 minutes, finishing 1-1.
Then, in the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Liverpool edged past the Blues by a 6-5 margin, ending the London side’s involvement in the tournament at the fourth round.

Morgan Rogers was the man who scored Chelsea’s goal from the spot during regular time, netting in the 40th minute to put the visitors ahead.
The lead was short-lived however, as Liverpool earned their own penalty just moments later, with Cody Gakpo slotting home from the spot in the 43rd minute.
Both players netted again in the shoot-out, but it was Gakpo’s side who ultimately won on the night.
For Rogers, it was a bitter pill to swallow.
“It is probably the worst way to lose a game,” he told ITV Sport. “It was an even game and at times we had the better of it.
“I had half chances that I’d have liked to have put away.
“It was one of them that can go either way and you have to accept it.”
There won’t be much time for Rogers and Chelsea to dwell on their elimination from the Carabao Cup as they are back in action at home on Saturday against Mancester United in the Premier League.
