Aaron Sorkin is returning to Broadway this week with a new production as The Social Reckoning heads to theaters. A Few Good Men play is set to preview for Lincoln Center Theater’s revival beginning Thursday, October 8, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in Manhattan.
The production will officially open on October 29, marking the play’s first full Broadway revival in more than 30 years.
Sorkin originally wrote A Few Good Men in the late 1980s while working as a bartender at Broadway’s Palace Theatre. The story was partly inspired by conversations with his sister Deborah, who studied law at the University of Virginia and served in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
The play opened on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre in November 1989 and ran for 497 performances. Sorkin later adapted it into the 1992 film directed by Rob Reiner, which starred Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore.
The new production will be a part of Lincoln Center Theater’s 2026-2027 season. Tony Award winner Michael Arden, who directed Parade, is handling the revival.
Tom Blyth leads Sorkin’s latest take on A Few Good Men
Tom Blyth makes his Broadway debut as Kaffee. The actor is best known for playing the young Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and for starring in MGM+’s Billy the Kid.
Blyth takes over a role previously played on Broadway by Tom Hulce and later made famous by Cruise in the film adaptation. The character begins as an unmotivated military lawyer before becoming more determined to challenge the official account of Santiago’s death.
Bradley Whitford plays Jessep. The three-time Emmy winner previously worked with Sorkin on The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. He now takes on the role previously played by Stephen Lang on stage and Nicholson on screen.
Krysta Rodriguez also stars as Galloway, with the supporting cast filling out the military courtroom drama.
