Taylor Swift’s Transitional Date-Night Look Pairs Fall and Summer Staples

For Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, the fall means a few things: football, pumpkin-themed baking, cozy cardigans and scarves, and a birthday party or two. And last night, the newlyweds stepped out to ring in Kelce’s 37th year, heading to New York City’s Torrisi for a celebratory dinner date.

Swift, who has never been shy about her love for all things autumn, toasted to her husband’s birthday in a classic bout of transitional dressing—bringing together the best of both summer and fall styles. Eager to break out her thick coats but not quite ready to let go of her warm-weather sandals, she paired a chunky leather jacket with strappy heels—and a little black slip dress that pulled it all together.

The jacket, courtesy of Saint Laurent, was the clear star of the show. Its wide blouson shape and shirred, belted waistband created an oversize, cropped silhouette, while its concealed zipper (hidden by a snap-button flap) and double-collar feature (one pointed, one stand) offered both extra warmth and extra styling options. Swift kept both collars down and left the jacket unzipped—showing off her LBD underneath.

As for the dress, the lace-trimmed sleeveless Simkhai midi in question was knit from soft, lightweight cashmere with a V neckline and matching V-shape low back. (Simkhai seems to be Swift’s latest go-to label for celebrations, as she wore a plaid piece from the brand just days ago for Dakota Johnson’s Saturday Night Live birthday gig.)

At the ankle-skimming hem, the dress was met by Swift’s aforementioned summer sandals: a pair of black Jimmy Choo heels that the showgirl previously wore to dinner in London back in May. She finished off the date-night look with a slouchy bucket bag from Givenchy, and headed inside the hotspot with Kelce for a toast.
