A VIDEO circulating on social media appears to show a woman being hit by a car while she was buying food at a coffee shop in Kota Kinabalu.
The CCTV footage has drawn plenty of attention online, with many viewers wondering how an ordinary morning food run could end that way.
But was a woman actually hit by a car while buying breakfast in Kota Kinabalu?

A 63-year-old woman was hit by a car while buying breakfast at a coffee shop in Luyang, Kota Kinabalu, early on Tuesday (Oct 6).
It happened at about 6.32am, when she was facing forward and a car parked behind her sped forward and struck her.
Both the driver and a passenger were still inside the car at the time.
Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Shahrudin Mat Husain said initial investigations found that the male driver had not shifted the gear into ‘safe’ or neutral mode when he parked.
“That caused the car to jerk and go forward,” said ACP Shahrudin.
She suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for a medical examination.
The driver will be called in to assist with investigations.
In the CCTV recording that went viral, the car is seen moving forward into the coffee shop and hitting the woman before the driver manages to brake and stop.
Food, tables and chairs were strewn across the floor, and no one else was reported injured.
It is the second reported “wrong gear” accident in Sabah.
