Why Are The Products Being Recalled?

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the carafe can break unexpectedly during use if the glass is damaged or cracked—including if a metal spoon is used to stir the coffee—posing a risk of severe burn injuries. To date, Bodum USA has identified 70 reports of carafes breaking during use, 48 of which involved burns.

What Should You Do If You Have The Recalled Product?

Consumers with the affected Bodum products should stop using metal spoons or other utensils to stir their coffee within the carafe. Owners of the affected French Press models can contact the company to receive a plastic Bodum stirring spoon and a warning label reminding them not to use cracked or damaged carafes or metal spoons.
