MultiBank forms predominantly Emirati board for interbank trading platform MultiBank Exchange

Following our report from earlier this week that Dubai based CFDs brokerage MultiBank Group had hired Crypto.com UAE President Mohammed Al Hakim as Vice Chairman (and also to head the group’s crypto unit MB.io), the company has announced the formation of a predominantly Emirati Board of Directors for MultiBank Exchange Holding. MultiBank Exchange Holding is described as the first interbank trading platform in the BRICS and emerging countries, which achieved in October 2026 a turnover of over USD $0.5 trillion.

Regarding MultiBank’s claims of $500 billion in monthly trading volumes, as well as that its matching engines is the “fastest in interbank trading history” at 400 nanoseconds (see below), we’d note that the company sometimes tends to hyperbole. MultiBank’s recent press release announcing Mohammed Al Hakim’s aforementioned hiring mentioned that the company has “a reported valuation of US$32 billion (AED 117 billion)”, a claim which is unsubstantiated and (in our view) highly exaggerated.

Naser Taher, Chairman of MultiBank Exchange Holding, announced the board which comprises:

  • H. Sheikh Juma bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum.
  • E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr bin Rashid Al Nuaimi.
  • E Mohammed Al Hakim (Vice Chairman).
  • E Ali bin Khalid bin Zayed Al Falasi.
  • E. Rashid Sultan Al Malik.
  • Majid Al Ghaslan.
  • David Ogg.

The Board of Directors will oversee and guide MultiBank Exchange’s operations, strengthen corporate governance, support growth and international expansion, and develop investment and financial partnerships at regional and global levels, in line with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.

MultiBank Exchange, part of MultiBank Group, is an interbank trading platform serving banks, financial institutions, hedge funds, family offices and derivatives brokers. It connects more than 30 tier-one banks and liquidity providers, with daily trading volumes of up to US$23 billion (AED 84 billion) and access to more than 250 currencies.

The platform is described by MultiBank as the world’s first interbank trading platform to offer double exotic currency pairs with settlement in both fiat currencies and digital assets. Its matching engine reportedly operates at 400 nanoseconds, making it the fastest in interbank trading history. It is also the first interbank trading platform to offer credit and settlement services to all its counterparties.

Naser Taher, Founder and Chairman of MultiBank Group, said,

“The formation of this board brings together experience that will help guide MultiBank Exchange’s development and international expansion. I welcome my fellow board members as we work to strengthen connections between financial institutions across the GCC, BRICS and other emerging markets and the global financial system. Our focus is on building the technology, liquidity and settlement infrastructure these institutions need to participate more effectively in international markets.”

MultiBank Exchange combines institutional liquidity with settlement services through the Group’s regulated subsidiaries in Australia, Singapore and the UAE. It is the first interbank trading platform in emerging markets to support settlement in digital assets.
