Jimmy Kimmel has some thoughts to share on Donald Trump‘s Oval Office plan. The comedian, who has never once hesitated to take a jab at the president over his antics, recently implied a possible early exit in Trump’s decision to declare the Oval Office a national monument.

In his opening monologue on the November 5 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the talk show host played a clip of the president signing a proclamation to turn the Oval Office into a national monument, calling it an effort to make sure “no future president can remove any of his crap.”

Kimmel quipped, “That’s right. His historic Diet Coke button will be preserved for many generations to come. I guess ‘Tacky-o’ really wants to make sure nobody lays a finger on all the beautiful new sconces and knickknacks he had spray-painted gold. He turned the Oval Office into the gift shop at the Liberace Museum.”

“Why do this now? Why do this right after the midterms? Maybe he’s planning to leave sooner than we think?” he continued.

Calling the new Oval Office a “landmark and a skid mark,” Kimmel then gave Trump a reality check, saying, “Let me tell you something, buddy: On January 20, 2029, we are gonna yank that crap down and throw it out faster than Melania moves back to New York.”

Trump’s midterm setback adds to Kimmel’s latest White House jabs

While Kimmel mocked Trump for changes to the Oval Office, he also put due emphasis on the president’s midterm setback. The talk show host said that, after numerous Trump-backed Republican candidates lost in the recent midterm election on Tuesday, the president appeared to be preoccupied with the wrong thing.

He also played a clip of Trump signing the document, in which the president was heard saying, “I’m going to be signing a document, which will make them into a landmark for the ages. It won’t be able to be taken down, destroyed, touched, or anything else.”

For context, the midterm elections resulted in a bruising “bloodbath” for the GOP, as Americans overwhelmingly elected Democratic candidates and flipped control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. However, Trump has since dismissed concerns about a potential impeachment effort from the newly Democratic Congress, saying he was “not even a little bit concerned” about the possibility, per Parade.

The political fallout was dissected sharply on The View as well, where co-host and former Trump administration staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin delivered a scathing review (via Entertainment Weekly).

Griffin described the sweeping Democratic victories as a “total and complete repudiation of Donald Trump’s presidency and his policies.” She went on to declare the election results the “beginning of the end of the MAGA movement,” rendering Trump an official “lame duck president.”
