The search for the next James Bond actor may be nearing its final stage. A select group of actors has reportedly been preparing for screen tests. The names linked to the process also support some earlier reports and speculation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, One Night Only star Callum Turner and Slow Horses actor Jack Lowden are among those expected to screen test for James Bond. The publication also mentioned that at least three actors are involved. However, another source suggested the shortlist could include as many as five candidates. It remains unclear who else is testing.
The report also rules out Jack O’Connell, who was previously rumored to be among the actors screen-testing for James Bond. However, sources told the outlet that the Sinners star is not part of the upcoming tests. Despite earlier speculation about Jacob Elordi‘s chances of landing the role, the report also confirms that the Frankenstein actor is not testing for 007.
Amazon MGM Studios has not confirmed any names. Pointing to its previous statement, the studio said, “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

James Bond screen tests will put finalists through stunts, dialogue & camera tests
The tests are reportedly taking place in London this weekend, potentially beginning as early as Friday. While nothing is official, the outlet mentions the screen tests will reportedly involve stunts, camera presence, and dialogue.
This intensive process mirrors previous franchise history. Two decades ago, Bond tests included full hair and makeup, alongside a full camera and sound crew on a set. Henry Cavill competed for the role before Daniel Craig ultimately landed it.
Denis Villeneuve is attached to direct the upcoming Bond film. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the Amazon MGM feature, with the studios overseeing the franchise. Steven Knight is writing the screenplay.
