In the trial of the murder of the late Abby Choi, a Hong Kong socialite and famous model, concrete forensic testimony has emerged that the victim was beaten several times with a blunt instrument and killed horribly.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 5th (local time), Dr. Kwak Gaghi, a forensic specialist who appeared as a witness in the Hong Kong High Court’s six-week murder trial, testified that Abby Choi was struck with a blunt instrument at the time of her death, causing a large hole in her right head and extensive bleeding in her brain and skull.
According to Dr. Kwak’s autopsy report, Choi suffered a total of seven traumas in the head alone, including a 15-cm-long laceration and a 5.5cm-sized indentation fracture before his death. Dr. Kwak diagnosed that blood overflowing through the fracture site may have blocked the airways and suffocated to death, or died within 30 minutes due to serious brain damage. It also added that the 1-pound hammer seized at the scene matched the actual crime tool.
Prosecutors believe her ex-husband, Alex Bam Kongchi, 31, killed her ex-wife, Abby Choy, by hitting her head with a hammer on Feb. 21, 2023, while she was traveling in the car. In particular, some of the bodies were found in two rural village pots, the scene of the crime, and Dr. Kwak added to the shock by saying that he personally checked the head and bone fragments immersed in liquid in the metal pot in the morgue.
Currently, the family, including Abby Choy’s ex-husband Alex Bam and his father Bam Kau, 68, and brother Anthony Bam Conkitt, 35, are on trial after being charged with joint murder. The two brothers previously admitted to obstructing the burial of the body, and their father, Bangkau, a former police officer, also admitted the charges during the trial.
The trial continues under a jury hearing by Deputy Judge Brian Keith and nine others.
