Dollar weekly moves and key drivers:

Over the past week, the index added 0.76%, reaching July highs.

The move was supported by expectations of further monetary policy tightening by the Federal Reserve, continued uncertainty in the Middle East, the sequential rise in oil prices, and resilient US economic activity.

The Australian dollar (AUD:USD) was flat near an eight-week low as investors remained cautious ahead of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s monetary policy meeting. The currency was battered by a broadly stronger US dollar and elevated US Treasury yields as the Federal Reserve raised interest rates earlier this month and signaled the possibility of further increases.

The Pound (GBP:USD) was last up 0.12% but remained close to its weakest level in three months, as investors digested a series of hawkish comments from Bank of England policymakers, while growing expectations of further Fed rate hikes continued to support the US dollar.
