Dunkin’ gave away 1 million free coffees last Thursday as part of its early National Coffee Day celebrations. The chain’s L.L.Bean collaboration rolls out Tuesday.
Dunkin’ fans got an early taste of National Coffee Day last Thursday — and apparently, they couldn’t wait. The mobile app briefly crashed after than chain surprised rewards members with one million free coffees.
The mobile app had more than 800 reports of issues, according to Downdetector, but was back up and running smoothly in less than an hour.
The surprise giveaway was part of Dunkin’s early National Coffee Day celebrations, which continue Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Dunkin’ cups are getting tiny L.L.Bean sweaters
Now, Dunkin’ is celebrating National Coffee Day with a new collaboration with L.L. Bean.
On Tuesday, Dunkin’ will again offer free coffee as part of a new collaboration with L.L. Bean. Rewards members will be able to get a free medium hot or iced coffee and shop the limited-edition collection.
The products will be available to purchase starting at 10 a.m., and include a Dunkin’-inspired birdseye L.L. Bean sweater and a full-size pink-and-orange L.L. Bean Boat and Tote bag.
L.L.Bean’s Seaport location will also celebrate National Coffee Day with free coffee and merchandise.
Additionally, the Dunkin’ x L.L.Bean ‘Bootmobile’ — a vehicle styled as an L.L.Bean boot and dressed in Dunkin’ colors — will travel to Dunkin’ locations in Woburn, Cambridge, and Saugus.
