AMD has released FSR SDK 2.4, bringing its machine-learning upscaling and frame generation to Vulkan games. Players will need developers to integrate the update before those features become available.

Existing Vulkan games using FSR 3.1 will not gain the newer ML features simply by installing a Radeon driver. AMD says those driver upgrades apply to DirectX 12 games only.

After developers integrate the supported versions, those Vulkan games become eligible for future upgrades through Adrenalin drivers.

Older Radeon cards gain upscaling, with different models for handhelds

The SDK changelog includes FSR Upscaling 4.1.2 support for RX 6000 cards and Ryzen AI Max 300 and 400 processors. Ryzen AI 9 300 and 400 chips, Z2 A, Z2 Extreme and AI Z2 Extreme use a smaller model designed for integrated graphics.

AMD says that model is less than half the size of its full INT8 version. Results depend on the game, resolution, quality setting and hardware. The release follows AMD’s earlier announcement of wider FSR 4.1 hardware support.

ML frame generation retains stricter GPU and Windows requirements

AMD lists Windows 10 and 11 as supported operating systems. ML frame generation still requires Windows 11 and an RX 9000-series GPU or newer; the broader hardware expansion applies to upscaling. Ray Regeneration and Radiance Caching remain DirectX 12-only.
