Y’all mind if A$AP Rocky gets a little whimsical at the WSJ Innovator Awards?
Last night, the rapper joined Dua Lipa to introduce one of the night’s honorees, Chanel creative director Matthieu Blazy—or, as he put it in his remarks, “the man who made this fly-ass suit that I’ve got on right now.” It was no great shock to anybody that the Chanel ambassador wore Chanel (in this case, a sharp black suit with gold buttons), but Rocky’s statement accessory was a welcome dose of surprise and delight.
Rocky arrived at the Museum of Modern Art swinging a small wooden acorn bag from Chanel’s Métiers d’art 2026 collection on its gold chain. When he hit the carpet, he ensured that the petite purse got its due, holding it out in the palm of his hand to show off its sleek wooden body and textured gold top embellished with rhinestones. Look closely enough, and you can see the brand’s subtle interlocking C logo. Not since Scrat, the saber-tooth squirrel from the 2002 seminal classic Ice Age, has one shown so much dedication to the single-seeded nut of an oak tree.
