Amanda Seyfried Reveals Which Acting Roles She Won’t Do After Divorce From Thomas Sadoski

Amanda Seyfried has an update on her career after her recent divorce from Thomas Sadoski. As a working mom of two, the actress, 40, abides by a major rule to a T when it comes to accepting new project offers.

Recently, The Housemaid star sat down with WWD to discuss her life and career in the entertainment industry. During this, she opened up about the decision-making process she goes through when choosing acting roles, listing, “Things that shoot in New York, in New Jersey — that’s very important. If it’s shooting in Spain, we’re not going to do it.”

There’s a clear reason behind this, too. Seyfried explained, “Because right now, the kids are a specific age, and my ex-husband’s working, and I just want us all to be within the neighborhood of each other to keep things feeling safe and cozy.” She added, “It definitely, definitely filters a lot for sure.”

In September this year, the actress got out of her nine-year marriage with her estranged husband Sadoski. The two go back more than a decade, meeting in 2015 when they starred in the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By. The pair share two children: a son whose name is not publicly known, aged 6, and a daughter, Nina, aged 9.

“We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit,” their statement to People said. “We’ve got each other forever—and it’s GOOD.”

Amanda Seyfried finds peace on her farm while raising her two children

Seyfried also opened up about finding peace on her farm while balancing her career with parenthood. Talking to Vogue, she said she feels fortunate to be at a place in her career where she is able to organize her work to maximize her time at home on her farm.

Though she admitted juggling a busy work schedule with raising her two kids can be “chaotic” at times, Seyfried also expressed gratitude for the support of those around her, including her own mother. She told People, “I have a full-time career and two kids. It’s a lot of work, but I love it. My family is very supportive of it … For sure, it sounds like it’s chaotic, and it is, in some ways, but I’ve also found so much peace in where I live. Plus, my mom lives with me, which helps.”

“It’s the privilege I have at this point in my career,” she said of making time for her family. “I can say, ‘Listen, I’ll make this work, but…I have to sleep with my kids Friday night, Saturday, Sunday — I have to go to bed with them.’ That’s my only rule. And it does fuel me. I mean, it probably helps them, but it definitely helps me.”
