‘Wonderful feelings’ – Dani Olmo reflects on brave Barcelona departure ahead of emotional Croatian return

The decision to leave Barcelona’s famed academy at just 16 years old was viewed as a significant risk at the time, yet Olmo remains steadfast that it was the catalyst for his current success. That calculated gamble paid dividends, opening the door for a high-profile move to RB Leipzig in 2020 where he remained until 2024, before completing a triumphant return home to Barcelona. Since rejoining the Catalan giants, the playmaker has lifted two La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey, scoring 20 goals in 96 appearances.

‘Everyone has their own story and their own reasons, for me what led me to take the decision to come to Dinamo was the interest they had in having me, the vision they had with me. It was one of the best moments I have lived in my career,’ Olmo remarked.
