Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, launched a couple of days back and reports of cracked inner displays have already given Samsung a chance to take a dig at its biggest rival. The South Korean tech giant has launched a new campaign promoting the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and it is not really being subtle about the message.

Samsung Trolls Apple Over iPhone Duo Screen Cracks

Samsung’s campaign takes aim at reports of screen damage on the iPhone Duo, with a series of ads highlighting its years of experience in the foldable smartphone market. The timing is hard to miss, especially as Apple deals with questions about the durability of its first foldable device.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Campaign Takes A Dig At Apple

Samsung Canada has shared a series of promotional visuals featuring crack-like lines across the display. The ads carry messages such as “Folding is nothing new to us” and “Folding. We know a thing or eight”, before pointing viewers towards the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

The campaign appears to be a direct reference to reports of iPhone Duo inner-screen cracks. Samsung has been making foldable smartphones since 2019, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 marks the company’s eighth generation of foldable devices.

Samsung is not limiting the campaign to Canada, either. In Malaysia, a promotional video showed what appeared to be a cracked foldable display. The apparent damage was later revealed to be part of the wallpaper, turning the moment into a playful demonstration of the phone’s screen.

Samsung’s Australian campaign has also focused on durability, reinforcing the company’s message that it has years of experience building foldable phones.

What Is Happening With The iPhone Duo’s Display?

Apple launched the iPhone Duo on October 23, 2026. Since then, some early users have reported cracks appearing on the inner display, with damage reportedly showing up around the hinge area.

Apple has acknowledged reports involving a “small number” of devices and has advised affected customers to contact AppleCare for assistance. However, the company has not shared a detailed explanation of what is causing the reported damage. Moreover, we are yet to find out how many devices were affected in total. Read more on that here.

Then there are repair costs. Replacing the iPhone Duo’s inner display can cost as much as 1,49,900, while ‘other damages’ (which aren’t specified by Apple) could lead to a bill of Rs 2,24,900. On the other hand, Samsung’s spare part price list puts the recently-lauched Galaxy Z Fold 8’s main screen assembly at Rs 54,130. The company also lists a main screen component repair at Rs 35,490. Now we all knew that Apple’s entry into the foldable market was always going to draw attention, and Samsung appears to be making the most of the moment. The iPhone Duo’s reported display issues have handed the company an opportunity to remind customers that it has been building foldable phones for years.
