More bad news for a Barcelona side whose injury list is beginning to grow. Dani Olmo was forced off injured in the 25th minute of Tuesday’s Champions League game against PSG in Paris.
The Spain international went down after a collision and required treatment on the field, although the initial indications suggested he may have suffered a muscular problem rather than an injury caused directly by the challenge.
What injury did Olmo suffer against PSG
Olmo walked off touching his groin area, raising concerns among Hansi Flick and his coaching staff. The Barcelona coach decided not to take any risks and sent on Fermín López in his place.
Barcelona will now wait for the results of medical tests to determine the nature and severity of the problem. Olmo’s reaction as he left the field suggested he was concerned by the injury, adding another potential absentee to Flick’s growing list.
The injury was another setback in an eventful opening half hour at the Parc des Princes, where Barcelona and defending European champion PSG were meeting in one of the standout fixtures of the Champions League league phase.
Dembélé off
Olmo was not the first player forced out of the game. Just minutes earlier, PSG had lost Ousmane Dembélé after the Ballon d’Or winner appeared to suffer a hamstring problem while chasing a loose ball behind the Barcelona defense. Dembélé accelerated in an attempt to reach the poorly controlled ball before immediately slowing down and showing signs of discomfort in the back of his leg. He was unable to continue and left the field shortly afterward, forcing Luis Enrique into an early change, with Ferran Torres coming on in his place.
