In honor of National Cat Day on October 29, Jenna Bush Hager brought her own furry friend Maisie to the set of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.
Jenna made her grand entrance wearing a cozy pink sweater with red hearts, which had a special hole at its center, where Maisie’s head popped out of.
She revealed: “First of all, we got this on Instagram and it’s not exactly as it was ordered…And now I take her out of my pouch…”
© TodaySheinelle Jones asked: “Should we tell everybody that I just took a Zyrtec?” Jenna explained: “We both took a Zyrtec cause we’re both allergic to cats and Maisie has been exploring my office…and hold on a minute…”
The host struggled with getting her zipper opened to get Maisie out of her sweater.
She explained: “I don’t want to hurt her [hair],” as Sheinelle added: “I don’t wanna touch it.” Jenna joked: “Touch it? She’s a girl,” and Sheinelle apologized.
Eventually, Jenna said: “Wait, oh oh, I might need some assistance with wardrobe.” Sheinelle shouted to the team: “She can’t get out. Would you like me to help you?”
© TodayJenna asked: “Would you like to,” as Sheinelle agreed. Jenna continued: “Just don’t zip her fur.”
She continued to struggle with the zipper before she finally got it to open, expressing: “Oh wait, here we go, here we go. Okay, there we go Maisie.”
Jenna started wholesomely dancing with Maisie while cuddling her on her chest, as romantic music played in the background.
© TodayIt was a big moment for Sheinelle who admitted that she’s “never held a cat.” Jenna teased: “You love animals and you’ve never held a cat?”
Jenna instructed Sheinelle to properly hold a cat “like a baby.” Sheinelle squirmed before finally cuddling Maisie herself, and then gave her back to Jenna, who allowed the cat to “roam free” around the set.
Jenna doesn’t need a national holiday to celebrate the deep love she has for her cats Maisie and Mango.
© TodayThe duo are a huge part of her family, and their birthdays are treated as special days that come with their own parties in Jenna’s home.
During the September 21 episode of the daytime show, Jenna shared: “I’m a little tired because we celebrated two people in my family’s birthdays — well, they’re not people — creatures, who I love very much. Maisie and Mango had a joint birthday party.”
The TV star showed a picture of the pair, adding: “Here they are, that’s their cake that I got at the Petco that’s good for dogs and cats.” She joked: “I didn’t want to eat it, you know what I’m saying?”
