Designer threads came in droves at the 2026 WSJ Innovator Awards on Thursday night at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art. Rosalía, Lupita Nyong’o and more high-profile figures brought some of the latest spring 2027 runway looks and a few little black dress moments to the red — or in this case blue — carpet.
While Rosalía and Cara Delevingne were all about spotlighting new designs from the spring 2027 runway, Nyong’o, Ashley Graham and Ciara did their respective takes on the little black dress. WWD breaks down those look and more ahead.
Rosalía

Rosalía turned to Schiaparelli for her look on the blue carpet. The “Lux” artist pulled a piece from the French luxury fashion house’s spring 2027 ready-to-wear runway — a black jacket with shimmering embellishments and rosettes paired with a contrasting white satin skirt. Rosalía went sans top beneath her jacket, emphasizing the cutout element running down the front placket.
Lupita Nyong’o

Nyong’o wore a design from Brandon Maxwell. Styled by Micaela Erlanger, the Oscar-winning actress’ sleeveless dress was crafted in a velvety soft fabric with a midi hemline. A plunging neckline added a touch of sensuality to the look, which she paired with peep-toe pumps. Nyong’o accessorized with shimmering diamond earrings, a ring and a bracelet.

Ciara

Ciara wholly elevated formal maternity wear in her LaPointe dress. The long-sleeve look featured cutouts just below the shoulders and bustline, heightening the singer’s confidence while also emphasizing her baby bump.
Ashley Graham

Graham opted for a design from Ernesto Naranjo’s fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection. The dress was a contemporary take on the little black dress look, with semi-sheer fabric layered overtop the black fabric base. The longtime model added a pair of ankle strap peep toe heels with minimalist jewelry elements.
Cara Delevingne

Delevingne joined the likes of Cynthia Erivo and Keira Knightley in spotlighting Erdem’s spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection. The “Club Kid” actress’ ensemble featured a black long-sleeve jacket with a flowing scarf detail and button-down dress shirt with coordinated trousers, both in white.
The annual WSJ Innovator Awards honors the leaders and change-makers in music, comedy, film and technology, among other disciplines. Rosalía was among the honorees for the 2026 edition of the event.
