Protest organizer Garie Lewis says that people from across Iowa and some from Nebraska were at the protest.

He says that once he found out the President was coming, he started organizing the protest through social media and word of mouth.

Lewis says that he feels these protests are important for everyone to show the President that things in this country are not okay.

“People are losing their Medicaid; people are losing their EBT.” Lewis said. “Things are just going downhill really fast, so it’s really important that people like us stand up and say, what a minute, things aren’t good.”

One protestor, Melanie Knight, says that she feels Trump supporters don’t know what is going on with this administration.

“They’ve made cuts to Medicaid, cuts to USAID, cuts to our rural health care and our rural schools.” Knight said. “Those are all things that are important to me and cuts to our veterans services which is especially important to me. My dad was a vet. My brother is a vet, and I know how important it is to take care of our veterans.”
