The Golden State Valkyries didn’t get what they wanted in terms of the scoreboard on Monday at Chase Center in San Francisco, as the Atlanta Dream dominated the home team 79-65 during Game 2 of the WNBA Finals and evened the series at 1-1.
The Valkyries did, however, get a strong turnout of celebrities to the game, further signifying the huge drawing power of both the team and the WNBA.
Here is a partial list of the stars who were in attendance for Monday’s game at Chase:
Wanda Sykes — Emmy-winning stand-up comedian/actress/writer known for her roles on “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and other TV shows.
Too $hort — The West Coast rap pioneer from Oakland, known for such platinum-plus-selling platters as “Life Is… Too Short” and “Shorty the Pimp,” was in the house to bang the drum prior to tip-off.

Alanis Morissette — Multiplatinum-selling alt-rock star, whose “Jagged Little Pill” is one of the biggest-selling albums of all time, sang the national anthem.

Common — Popular rapper, who released the debut studio album “Can I Borrow a Dollar?” in 1992, has won three Grammys, an Oscar, an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award.
Sheryl Swoops — She’s one of the greatest basketball players of all time — and one of only eleven people to have won an Olympic gold medal, a WNBA title, a NCAA Championship and a FIBA World Cup gold.
Mistah F.A.B. — The Oakland hyphy hip-hop legend — whose moniker is reportedly a backronym for Money Is Something To Always Have, Forever After Bread — has been releasing albums now for roughly 25 years.
Chris Paul — An all-time great point guard, who was named to 11 All-NBA teams, and played one season for the Golden State Warriors (2023-24).
Warriors — Speaking of the Dubs, there were a number of them in the house — including future first-ballot hall of famers Draymond Green and Steph Curry.
LaRussell — The increasingly popular and prolific hip-hop hero out of Vallejo, who has already released dozens of recordings during his still relatively young career, did a great job performing the halftime show.
