Lauren Sánchez Bezos can picture herself as first lady, an unnamed source says, as she encourages her husband, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, to consider a presidential bid.
Rob Shuter’s report cites sources who say her interest in Washington grew after the couple attended President Donald Trump’s state dinner honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping. They describe her pitching politics as a way for Bezos to extend his influence beyond business and his space company.
“Lauren loves the idea of President Bezos,” a source said. “She talks about legacy, influence and what Jeff could do that money alone cannot buy. And yes, she can absolutely see herself as First Lady.”
The sources portray Sánchez as someone whose encouragement matters to Bezos and who has already helped make the private billionaire more publicly visible. “Jeff listens to Lauren,” a source said. “She has pushed him outside his comfort zone before, and she believes America could see something in him beyond the billions.”
Others around Bezos reportedly view the prospect as fantasy.
