Several days after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show aired, people are still talking about it — including the supermodels who may or may not have been included on the runway this year. Kylie Jenner was chosen to wear the brand’s coveted Fantasy Bra, and of course, people have plenty of opinions about it.
But according to a new report, even models who have worked with Victoria’s Secret before are miffed that Kylie was treated like a VIP at the fashion show and given a bigger paycheck than they were for doing less work, simply because she belongs to the Kardashian family.
Kylie was definitely a controversial choice.
The Fantasy Bra is essentially the highlight of the entire fashion show each year, and it’s typically a big-name supermodel who has the honor of wearing it.
This time, the show did things a little differently, with Kylie stepping out in the sparkling lingerie — which, according to Vogue, weighed just under four pounds, featured more than 4,000 diamonds, and was the most expensive Fantasy Bra ever, at $50 million.
Since viewers were expecting one of the famed VS models to be wearing the bra, many were shocked to see Kylie on the runway, and not in a good way. Now, it seems fans aren’t the only ones upset.
She reportedly received the biggest paycheck of any of the models who were part of the fashion show.
The latest edition of Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack newsletter includes intel from a Victoria’s Secret insider who claims that the supermodels are outraged that Kylie reportedly raked in a $5 million paycheck just for showing off the bra.
“Kylie got the biggest check, and the supermodels are furious,” the source said. “These women spent decades building their careers. Kylie shows up for five minutes, collects millions and walks away. It’s insulting!”
Kylie reportedly received special treatment at the show, too.
“Kylie had her own private dressing room, personal security and unlimited VIP tickets,” a source said. “Everyone else followed the rules. Kylie was treated like she owned the place!”
Another source hinted that Kylie clearly got the gig because of who her family is, adding, “Victoria’s Secret used to celebrate supermodels. Now it celebrates Instagram followers. The women who built this brand are watching a reality star become its highest-paid attraction!”
Even before Kylie was revealed to be part of the show, fans were already upset that influencers seemed to be taking priority on the runway over seasoned Victoria’s Secret Angels who they actually wanted to see.
But if Kylie’s aware of the backlash, she doesn’t seem too upset by it. In a post on Instagram, she called walking in the show “a moment I’ll never forget.”
It’s a moment that plenty of others won’t forget, either… but maybe not in the way she would want.
