Jefferies is set to offload all of the assets and operations of Stratos Group International, the parent of retail FX broker FXCM, to AvaTrade, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The disclosure, made in Jefferies’ quarterly report for the nine months to 31 August 2026, confirms the firm as the seller behind AvaTrade’s agreement to acquire the majority of FXCM Group’s business, announced on 9 October.
The acquired assets are expected to be migrated over the next 120 days, according to the filing. Financial terms have not been disclosed.
Daire Ferguson, chief executive of AvaTrade said: “Our ambition is to help shape the next phase of global online trading.
“This transaction represents a significant further step toward realising that ambition. By combining FXCM’s established market presence with AvaTrade’s technology and product innovation, we aim to expand our global reach and build a stronger, more diversified trading group.
“The online trading industry is entering a new phase in which leading companies must combine trust, innovation and global access, with a broad range of trading solutions. This agreement supports our strategy to expand internationally, broaden our multi-asset offering and continue to invest in technology, including AI, to support traders at every experience level.”
Jefferies, which had held a 49.9% equity stake, took full ownership in September 2023 after foreclosing on the defaulted parent, with the group subsequently rebranded as Stratos. It also launched a sister multi-asset brand, Tradu, the same year.
