James Bond’s new Daniel Craig anniversary post reveals interesting facts
The official James Bond account has shared details about Daniel Craig’s casting as 007, including the two scenes he performed during his audition. The post, published on the anniversary of his casting announcement, revealed that Craig was selected after 72 other actors were linked to the role.
The franchise celebrated the occasion on X (formerly Twitter) with a photograph of Craig as Bond, shirtless and holding a gun. Its caption read, “On this day in 2005, Daniel Craig was announced as the sixth actor to take on the role of James Bond.”
The post further reads, “He beat out 72 other names linked to the role. Craig auditioned for James Bond with two scenes: Bond’s first meeting with Vesper Lynd, and the scene from FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE where Bond first encounters Tatiana in her hotel room.”
Craig made his debut as the secret agent in Casino Royale in 2006. He returned for four more films, including Quantum of Solace in 2008, Skyfall in 2012, Spectre in 2015, and No Time to Die in 2021. The last film completed Craig’s 15-year run as Bond.
The franchise is now preparing to introduce its next Bond, although the casting announcement has yet to come. In May 2026, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that the selection process had begun. “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right,” the studio said.
