Hugh Jackman has not yet been confirmed as part of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday. Despite the character’s success in Deadpool & Wolverine, it seems he will not be joining his fellow superheroes in fighting Doctor Doom.
The X-Men are set to appear in Doomsday, uniting with the Fantastic Four and Avengers for the first time on the big screen. It is expected that characters who might not appear in Doomsday, such as Spider-Man, might appear in Avengers: Secret Wars instead.
When asked in a recent interview with Variety about whether Wolverine is slated to appear in Secret Wars, the actor said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have no idea what you’re talking about.” When praised for the answer, Jackman jokingly said, “I do have an internal chip, that is not metaphorical. There’s a literal chip, and if I say the wrong thing, I get shut down. I don’t know who controls that chip, but someone is controlling it.”
The Wolverine question refuses to go away
Rumors have been circulating online that Avengers: Doomsday will open with a devastating loss. One such report claims that Wolverine and the X-Men will face off against Tobey Maguire’s version of Spider-Man. To save their own universe, Maguire’s timeline will reportedly be erased. Although fans have already expressed interest in seeing how this plot plays out, Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire are not yet confirmed for the massive Doomsday cast.
Several Marvel actors have previously lied about their involvement in certain projects. Andrew Garfield repeatedly denied being in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor, along with Maguire, was later revealed to be reprising their roles as previous iterations of Spider-Man following the movie’s release.
Marvel has a history of keeping secrets from fans, so it’s quite possible that Jackman is involved in the production but is staying mum to avoid spoiling the movie. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026.
