Grey’s Anatomy Season 23 has taken a dramatic turn with the revelation that Simone is pregnant. The jaw-dropping twist has left fans speculating about who the father is. The surprise arrived in the latest season premiere “Collide” as Dr. Simone Griffith found herself staring at a positive pregnancy test amid a complicated love life.
Who is the father of Simone’s baby in Grey’s Anatomy Season 23?
The Grey’s Anatomy Season 23 premiere sees Simone attempting to move forward with Wes, while repeatedly running into Lucas at the worst moments (via soaps.sheknows.com).
The surgical resident first walks in on him naked in the shower while looking for condoms and later finds him shirtless in the hospital locker room. That prompts her to ask him for space and clear boundaries. However, moving on just got harder as she ends the episode holding a positive pregnancy test. With a recent drunken night with Lucas still fresh, he could very well be the father.
For those needing a refresher on how they got here, Simone had received discouraging news about her egg retrieval. It left her convinced that she would not be a good mother. Lucas came across her at Joe’s while she was upset and offered comfort.
The two left the bar together, and as expected, woke up in bed together the next morning after drinking too much. As predicted by soaps.sheknows.com in April itself, this one night could be what got Simone pregnant after all.
Offering insight on the pregnancy twist and what’s ahead, showrunner Meg Marinis spoke to The Hollywood Reporter. She explained how this storyline will differ from Grey Anatomy’s past pregnancy and abortion plots.
Marinis shared that this arc is completely new for the long-running drama and will play out over a few episodes. The producer noted that it hits harder because Simone was just told she might not be able to conceive. As someone who has always put her career first, she will now have to weigh pausing her ambitions for motherhood, a conflict many viewers will connect with.
