WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) – Several Mat-Su roads will be closed for hours Tuesday surrounding the arrival of President Donald Trump for a political rally in Wasilla.
The rally — which officially begins at 2 p.m. with Trump expected to begin speaking at 3:30 p.m. — will be held at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center.

As expected, security will be tight with the president coming town. Alaska State Troopers said there will be temporary flight restrictions will be place in Wasilla and the Anchorage area, including drones.
Delays of up to 30 minutes on the Glenn and Parks Highway can be expected, troopers say.
Additionally, the roads leading to and from the Menard Center will be closed for 10 hours; from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., troopers say. Those include Clapp Street, Beacon Street, and Aviation Avenue.
Troopers also say no one will be allowed to walk to the venue; instead, there will be transportation provided for attendees, with details included in an email sent out to people who registered for it.
This rally comes just over a week after Vice President J.D. Vance’s visit to Alaska to support Sen. Dan Sullivan’s campaign for reelection, which included stops in Fairbanks and Anchorage. The president last came to Alaska in August 2025 for his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Prior to that, the then-former president held a rally for U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka in July 2022 at the Alaska Airlines Center during the most recent U.S. Senate campaign in Alaska.
