Kim Kardashian has found herself at the center of a political backlash after sharing a post-election message that some followers interpreted as celebrating the Democrats‘ sweeping midterm victory, despite her close relationship with Ivanka Trump.
The 46-year-old Kim posted “GOOD MORNING AMERICA” on X.com, formerly known as Twitter, following Tuesday’s elections, referring to her appearance on the ABC program to promote the latest season of her drama series, All’s Fair.

However, the caption quickly attracted a different interpretation as with Democrats taking control of Congress, several social media users accused her of celebrating a result that represented a major setback for President Donald Trump and his Republican allies.
And one critic questioned her friendship with the President’s daughter, writing online, “Do you think she posted this before or after she checked in on her best friend Ivanka?”
Another user responded, “Oh wtf lol it’s comical how you lack the ability to read the room.”
Others questioned where Kardashian’s political loyalties stood as a third commenter said, “You look good but we know you MAGA.”

The backlash unfolded against the backdrop of a major political defeat for Republicans, with Democrats taking control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the midterm elections.
The result was viewed as a significant rejection of the Trump Administration, with concerns over the cost of living, the Iran war and the POTUS‘ approval ratings among the factors contributing to the Republican losses.
Democrats also benefited from strong campaigns focused on healthcare affordability and household finances, whilst shifts among Hispanic and black voters further weakened Republican support in several key races.
Although Kardashian’s television promotion was not explicitly presented as a political statement, its timing proved enough to spark criticism as her friendship with Ivanka has made the reaction particularly notable, with fans questioning how the reality star’s public message fits alongside her connections to the Trump Family.
Kardashian‘s association with Ivanka has attracted attention because of their different public profiles and the reality star’s previous involvement with the Trump administration.
The pair developed a relationship through Kardashian‘s criminal justice reform advocacy, which brought her into contact with Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, during Trump‘s first presidency.
In 2018, Kardashian visited the White House for a meeting that lasted approximately an hour as she spoke with Trump about Alice Johnson, who was serving a life sentence following a 1996 conviction involving drug dealing and money laundering.
Johnson‘s case had attracted Kardashian‘s attention because it was her first offense and she had played a minor role in the cocaine operation, and Kim subsequently left the White House and visited Kushner and Ivanka at their Washington D.C., home.
Johnson was later granted clemency and received a full presidential pardon, marking a significant development in Kardashian‘s campaign for criminal justice reform.
