OLED gaming monitors do not have to cost as much as a high-end graphics card. Best Buy has the LG UltraGear 27GX704A-B down to $379.99, a $120 saving against its displayed $499.99 comparable value.
The 27-inch-class screen combines a 2560 x 1440 OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and a glossy finish. It is an interesting middle ground for a PC gamer who wants deeper blacks and a fast screen without stepping up to a larger 4K display.
Best Buy listed the monitor as new and sold by Best Buy, with shipping and pickup options available when we checked. The retailer calls it a Holiday Deal; availability and the displayed comparison price can vary by location.

LG UltraGear 27GX704A-B 27-inch QHD 240Hz OLED gaming monitor

- Up to 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms grey-to-grey response time
- G-Sync Compatible and FreeSync Premium Pro

OLED contrast meets a 240Hz refresh rate
OLED can turn individual pixels off for black areas, giving dark scenes a different look from an LCD that relies on a backlight. The glossy surface can make the image look vivid, but it can also reflect windows and lights, so think about where the monitor will sit.
The panel’s 240Hz maximum refresh rate means it can refresh up to 240 times per second. You still need a capable PC and compatible connection to make use of it, and the frame rate you see will depend on the game and settings. LG specifies a 0.03ms grey-to-grey response time; that is a panel figure, not a guarantee of the whole system’s input latency.
There is support for NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro variable refresh rates. These can help keep the display in step with a compatible graphics card as frame rates change.
Check your desk and connections
The 26.5-inch viewable panel has two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort input. LG’s product specifications list QHD at up to 240Hz over HDMI 2.1 with a compatible device. Check the output and cable on your own PC before ordering. The stand offers height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment.
As with any OLED, static content left on screen for long periods can contribute to image retention. Use the monitor’s OLED care features and sensible screen-saver settings, and review the warranty terms before buying.
Best Buy’s comparable value is the retailer’s reference price, rather than proof of a historical low. Confirm the current price, seller and delivery options for your location before checkout.
