Samsung and Google have both increased local pricing for their cheaper A-series devices, with costs going up by at least $50.
On the Google front, the Pixel 10a now sells for $949, up from its launch price of $849.
On the Samsung side, it has increased pricing the Galaxy A57, Galaxy A37, Galaxy A27, and Galaxy A17. The Galaxy A57 got a $100 price hike, taking it to $849, while the other devices got a $50 increase. Here’s how pricing has changed for Samsung’s A-series:
- Galaxy A57 128GB: Was $749, now $849
- Galaxy A57 256GB: Was $849, now $949
- Galaxy A37 128GB: Was $599, now $649
- Galaxy A27 128GB: Was $499, now $549
- Galaxy A17 128GB: Was $349, now $399
At time of writing, retailers like JB Hi-Fi are already charging the new price for Google’s Pixel 10a, but not for Samsung’s Galaxy A-series devices. For example, JB Hi-Fi has the 128GB Galaxy A57 discounted to $599 at the moment.
Samsung also increased pricing on its Galaxy S26 phones at the start of the month.
While unprecedented, the price increases to older models come during the component crisis, where generative AI-led demand has dramatically upped the price of memory and storage. When Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max last month, it also increased prices for several older models, going as far back as the iPhone 16. Most older iPhones went up by between $100 and $150, but 1TB iPhone Air got a $500 price hike.
