Matthew Lillard on Daredevil: Born Again ending after Season 3
Matthew Lillard recently addressed Daredevil: Born Again ending after its third season in an exclusive interview with ScreenRant.
The actor, who joined the MCU as Mr. Charles in Season 2, expressed his desire for the show to continue. He told ScreenRant, “Listen, I wish the show would go on. I have deep thoughts about Mr. Charles and where he goes, but that’s for another day.”
The cancellation marks the second time Matt Murdock’s story wraps up after three seasons. Charlie Cox’s original Netflix series also concluded after its third outing. Born Again Season 3 will be the final MCU TV show release of Phase 6.
Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrays Kingpin, also responded to the news on social media. The actor expressed gratitude toward the fanbase and teased exciting developments ahead. He wrote that the final season features “some very cool stuff” and affirmed his enduring love for the Fisk character.
The upcoming season will stage a full Defenders reunion on Disney+. Krysten Ritter returns as Jessica Jones alongside Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Danny Rand. Colter’s hero appeared in the Season 2 finale, working for Mr. Charles on special missions.
Season 2 ended with Lillard’s Mr. Charles departing alongside Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye. Matt Murdock revealed his true identity to the world and went to prison. Elodie Yung’s Elektra will also return, as seen in set photos spotted earlier this year. The character has not appeared in the MCU since The Defenders.
Plot details for the final season remain under wraps. The identity of Daredevil’s new main antagonist is still unknown. Marvel Studios has not confirmed whether these characters will appear in other projects after the show ends.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 premieres in 2027 on Disney+.
