Lake Forest, who ran with credit in the U.S. in his last two starts, will continue his international expedition in Hong Kong in December, according to trainer William Haggas.

The son of No Nay Never, second in the GI Coolmore Turf Mile at Keeneland in October, ran third in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile on Halloween. Connections have circled the G1 Longines Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin in December as his next target.

“He’s back and cantered on Friday morning and we’re looking at going to Hong Kong,” Haggas said of the Golden Eagle winner. “He ran really well, he ran well in both races [in America].”

Owned by Ian McAleavy and Tony Boom, the chestnut is still hunting for his first Group 1 win.

Bloom’s racing manager Sean Graham said, “He’s finished third at a Breeders’ Cup and shown he definitely gets a mile around a bend, even if a shorter trip might be best for him on a stiff, straighter track. He definitely deserves his place in these big races.

“He’s a tough horse who has only been out of the prize-money once in seven runs this year. He always picks up a pay-cheque and is just a fabulous horse. As long as he comes out of America fine we’ll take him to the Far East.”
