JunHe has hired Shani Chan as a partner in its Hong Kong office, strengthening its capital markets practice.

Before joining JunHe, Chan spent nearly five years as a senior capital markets lawyer at the Hong Kong office of Paul Hastings. Earlier, he practised for seven years at Hong Kong-based firm Chiu & Partners from 2010.

He subsequently founded and ran advisory firm WSGL, advising an investment consortium as de facto general counsel, before joining Tian Yuan Law Firm’s Hong Kong office, where he spent two years as a counsel.

Chan has more than 15 years of experience in Hong Kong capital markets advising issuers and underwriters on Hong Kong IPOs, post-listing compliance, M&A, corporate restructuring and regulatory investigations.

He also has experience in cross-border listings involving Chinese mainland companies, with clients spanning technology, media and telecoms, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, manufacturing, energy and logistics.

He advised WH Group, the world’s largest pork company, on the spin-off and Nasdaq listing of Smithfield Foods, and Transsion Holdings, the largest mobile phone manufacturer in global emerging markets, on its Hong Kong listing.
