Apple has confirmed a wide range of popular apps will support Touch on the new MacBook Pro, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve, Blender, Zoom, Canva and Notion.
The app support was detailed in Apple’s MacBook Pro announcement, as the company brings direct touchscreen input to the Mac for the first time.
Apple says many existing Mac apps will work with Touch immediately because macOS can automatically translate touches into clicks. Developers can also use new system gesture APIs to create interactions designed specifically around touch input.
Among the productivity and collaboration apps highlighted by Apple are Notion, Canva, Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Creative apps include Adobe Lightroom and DaVinci Resolve, while 3D tools include Blender, Cinema 4D, ZBrush and Shapr3D. Apple also highlighted djay Pro for music workflows.
Apple’s own Creator Studio apps are being optimized for Touch as well. Pixelmator Pro will allow users to draw and select directly on the display, Logic Pro will offer onscreen instruments and controls, and Final Cut Pro will support gestures for editing, marking ranges and moving clips.
The new MacBook Pro is available to pre-order now and will begin arriving to customers on Friday, November 6.
