Crystal Lake Season 2 just got another update, and it’s more intriguing than ever. While this series takes place almost a decade before the events of Friday the 13th, the new update teases the arrival of more fan-favorite characters from the original movie.
Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane recently got candid about how narrow the gap will be between the cast of Crystal Lake and Friday the 13th if the spin-off gets renewed for a second season.
He said in an interview with Bloody Disgusting, “If we’re lucky enough to get a season two, I already sort of have a framework in my mind. I do know thematically what I want to touch on, which is a little bit different than part one. I do know that I want there to be a whole hell of a lot more of Sackhead Jason, I’ll tell you that. I want there to be a whole lot more carnage.”
“But in terms of other characters that I want to touch on, there are, and there are people that we haven’t necessarily seen in the first season, but people who might be very well known from the franchise that I do want to dig into,” Kane continued.
What happens at the end of the first season of Crystal Lake?
At the end of Crystal Lake Season 1, an adult, bag-headed Jason Voorhees reappears and crushes the skull of his father, Elias Wittering, with his bare hands during a tense standoff.
It starts when Elias and his men try to kidnap Pamela Voorhees in the woods, leading to a violent confrontation. Jason intervenes, kills Elias by crushing his skull, and spares his mother. Then Crazy Ralph shoots at the monstrous, super-strong Jason, but Jason flees into the forest before Ralph can shoot again.
Instead of being horrified by the turn of events, a deranged Pamela laughs hysterically, embraces the twist of fate, and claims the woods now belong to her and Jason.
The episode ultimately closes with a flashback-style campfire scene: As young Steve Christy tells campers the legend of Jason, echoing Friday the 13th Part 2, a twig snaps and the screen cuts to black.
Season 2 of Crystal Lake hasn’t been greenlit yet. Crystal Lake Season 1 can currently be streamed on Peacock.
