A new event location. A new, more challenging selection of patterns on the wheel. And a new crowned champion. The Latte Art Throwdown returned and, without a doubt, delivered.
If you’d told me two years ago that I’d not only be attending the 8th Latte Art Throwdown, but working it with my seven-month-old strapped to me, I’d have thought you were delusional. Optimistic at a push. But guess what? She smiled through the first half and slept through the second! I can officially say my baby has slept through both a Fatboy Slim concert and a set from MC Rob Butterworth. What an excellent evening.
Honey and Harvey have a few cafés dotted around the county, so collaborating with them to host one of our familiar throwdown events was a no-brainer. And wow, what an incredible space. It was almost as if it had been designed specifically for the occasion.

H+H really pulled out all the stops to ensure the event ran seamlessly. From the drinks on arrival to the live music, everything had been so carefully thought out that you could have sneezed and it would somehow have appeared on the schedule. I do have to give an honourable mention to the pork belly nachos. Moreish is the word!
But what could have made such a brilliant night even better? The class-A baristas, of course! The turnout was exceptional. Baristas from Suffolk Food Hall, Shore in Felixstowe and Applaud in Ipswich, to name just a few, went head-to-head in an attempt to claim the crown. Honey and Harvey’s very own barista, Zuzanna, took first place with a flawless swan variation in the final free-pour round.
As someone who’s been out of the industry for some time (two kids later!), the standard of pouring was a welcome back I could only have dreamed of. Who knew milk and coffee could be such an impressive medium?

I’m genuinely honoured to have attended the event and so grateful to be back behind the doors and alongside the team at the roastery. Last Thursday reminded me just how vibrant and welcoming our community is.
Thank you to Honey and Harvey for providing the location and catering for the event (did I mention the nachos?). A huge thank you to MOMA oat milk and La Marzocco for bringing us an exciting, interactive corner, and a big cheer for our baristas and audience for, as always, bringing the vibe.
