iPhone Duo’s app rollout is beginning to make use of more than its larger screen. Prime Video can put a film on the upper half of a partially folded phone while showing X-Ray details below, and Netflix adapts its Clips feed between displays.

Apple’s app showcase accompanies the foldable iPhone’s October 23 launch. A Made for iPhone Duo badge identifies optimised apps in the App Store, with more updates planned throughout the year.
Some apps change their layout when the phone is partially folded
MLB can show a live game on the upright half and statistics on the half resting on a table. Prime Video uses a similar division for playback and information about the cast or other content.

Creative apps use the extra space differently. Detail places video beside its transcript, while Instagram Edits brings the timeline, editing tools and preview into view together.
The benefits vary by app. The larger screen alone does not mean every developer has already added a folding-specific interface.

Microsoft’s productivity layouts are still rolling out after launch
Apple says Word and Outlook will receive their updated layouts in the coming weeks. Word will place formatting tools alongside a document, while Outlook will show the inbox beside a full message.
Other updates also have later dates. Zenless Zone Zero’s Duo adaptation and UnGodly’s App Store launch are planned for November, while DoorDash’s larger delivery map is due later this year.
Owners can therefore distinguish apps ready around launch from features still to come. Duo’s Split View also lets two apps run side by side, independent of the specialised layouts Apple highlights.
Calendar and task apps are adapting too. Fantastical puts calendars, tasks and menus together, while Zoom shows shared content alongside meeting participants on the inner display.
