Submitted by Nicole Harlow, Haddam Historical Society

(October 24, 2026) — The Haddam Historical Society is pleased to roll out our Fashion Flashback/Juniors Program, made possible by a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Middlesex County through the Edmund T. and Barbara S. Delaney Fund. The program will explore the cultural history of clothing and endeavors to instill a more profound understanding of the people who came before us and the role that fashion played in their lives.

In this first rendition of the program, on November 15, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., fashion enthusiasts aged 8 to 14 will learn about the evolution of style through the 18th and 19th centuries and the ways that changing roles in society, advances in textile production, and cultural influences drove fashion etiquette. Attendees also will try on reproductions of historic styles and even sketch their own designs.

Advance registration for this program is required, as space is limited at the Thankful Arnold House Museum. Please visit the events section of our website for details at www.haddamhistory.org/news-events/
