Sophie Nélisse has given fans an early look at her upcoming Netflix TV show, along with an exciting update on the highly anticipated project. The series does not yet have an official release date.
On October 23, 2026, Netflix shared a photo of Nélisse on the set of This Summer Will Be Different. In the photo, the Heated Rivalry star sits behind the steering wheel and poses for the camera. She wears a red-and-white top and holds a clapperboard bearing the show’s title.

What to know about Netflix’s This Summer Will Be Different
Production on This Summer Will Be Different began in August 2026 and wrapped in October. In the 10-episode series, Nélisse plays Lucy Ashby, a woman in her 20s who falls for her best friend’s brother, Felix. The show follows their romance over several summers on Prince Edward Island.
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, Fortune revealed that the Island inspired her to write the story. The author shared, “I fell in love with Prince Edward Island first in the pages of L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables and again when I visited with my best friend in my early 20s. That vacation, the beauty of the island, the warmth of its people, and the friendships that sustain us are the foundation of This Summer Will Be Different. I’m thrilled to bring this sweeping love story to the screen with Netflix and to transport audiences to the glittering shores and windswept beaches of PEI.”
Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart serve as showrunners. The cast also includes Francesca Reale, Roby Attal, Malin Akerman, Megan Follows, Nadine Bhabha, Matias Lucas, and several other performers. It is produced by Anna Beben.
Executive producers include Dane Clark, Linsey Stewart, Carley Fortune, Karen Maine, Jennifer Kawaja, Elise Cousineau, and Sam Levine. Karen Maine, Jasmin Mozaffari, and Fab Filippo are directing the series’ 10 episodes.
